Managed Methods Inc. today announced JaxView support for bi-directional integration into most UDDI-compliant registries including those available from Systinet repository from HP and the CentraSite repository from Software AG & Fujitsu.
As companies start to develop and deploy Web services and move towards a Service Oriented Architecture a need for a service information repository arises. This repository stores service meta data and governance policies developed at design time and through testing. The information in the repository is then used at runtime to control and management service operations. An effective SOA management product should be able to retrieve service information from the registry and enforce declared policies at runtime. This type of re-use of policies from design time to runtime has been used in previous business service architectures.
In dynamic service environments, operational issues and changes to service contracts can result in a need for changes in service definitions and runtime governance policies. Depending on operational management processes, these changes may be implemented first in the runtime management application. Others changes may be made in the service registry. Ideally, these changes should be synchronized automatically between the runtime management application and the UDDI repository. This bi-directional runtime synchronization is the foundation of closed-loop governance.
JaxView from Managed Methods (www.managedmethods.com) is a cost effective way for any organization deploying Web services into production to gain the benefits of a Closed-Loop Governance architecture.
JaxView can automatically synchronize its service and policy information with the registry. It can dynamically register new policies into or read policies from the UDDI registries to manage client SLA’s and enforcement of those policies. Deployed as a service gateway, JaxView can virtualize Web services and update the registry with the new endpoint locations and WSDL information. It has its own WS-Policy schema for most configuration options within the application.
The following are some of the key features of JaxView’s Closed-Loop governance functionality:
Auto discovery of Web services from the registry – JaxView can automatically discover new web services added into the registry and add management functionality. It performs this by either listening for new services or query the registry on a schedule
Publish new Web Service endpoint – JaxView can publish any new web services into the registry. If it is used to virtualize the Web services, the new endpoint information for the services is published into the registry
Discover new Policies Including WS-Policies – JaxView can perform bi-directional synchronization of policies with the registry. It will dynamically load the new policies and enforce them or add policies modified within JaxView into the registry.
Publish Service Status Reports to Registry – It will publish a one page status report of the Web service to the registry for quick access from the organization. This report includes a throughput and fault summary plus a customizable number of messages and last performance of the web service and its status.
Bi-Directional SLA metric synchronization with registry – JaxView can synchronize all SLA related metric threshold with the registry. So as an example it can update a new Web service performance SLA metric into the registry or to load the SLA threshold from the registry dynamically. JaxView also includes its own WS-Policy schema for all the metrics so it can upload the SLA thresholds as WS-Policy attachment into the registry
