Managed Methods releases JaxView free version for up to 5 active monitors
Architects, developers and IT operations managers working with Web services in production need visibility into the operation and performance of XML-based services. Managed Methods offers a wide variety of functionality and installation options at a cost effective price. JaxView’s functionality includes runtime governance, policy enforcement, management, agent-less visibility and availability. To ensure complete visibility into your web services environment or the desired functionality to fit your needs, JaxView offers both passive (real user / real time) and active monitoring (synthetic services and transactions). Now, Managed Methods is offering the first 5 active monitors for free to complement its cost effective licensing model and enable smaller environments to get simple availability. Active monitoring within JaxView will emulate how a web service will perform by running synthetic tests. Passive monitoring is the real time and real user monitoring. The active monitoring portion of JaxView will emulate how a web service performs and responds, when a synthetic request is sent to the web service and response is received, on a schedule. JaxView will create and send a synthetic request to the service and measure how long that transaction took. As well, JaxView also monitors the response to make sure it’s a valid response as well as monitoring the actual response. Active monitors create a synthetic SOAP request that queries the Web service and then monitors that response. If the response is below a specific threshold the monitoring engine will send off an alert. The active monitoring in JaxView also gives you a heartbeat of the web service. Therefore, if the web service is down it can alert someone or execute a script to re-launch the web service. “We see customers invoking their web services in an active fashion to keep the web service intialized, therefore allowing it to perform better when a "real client" is accessing it.” said Julie Cobb, Director of Sales at Managed Methods. “We are excited to offer a free version of JaxView active monitoring for up to 5 monitors to enhance our cost effective offering and allow customers with tight budgets to benefit from JaxView.” JaxView is a cost effective solution for runtime governance, policy enforcement, management, agentless visibility and availability for web services or SOA .
